I've been teaching at BSHS since 2013. Earlier, I taught at Lincoln College Preparatory Academy in Kansas City, MO.
Before I became a teacher, I worked as a writer and an editor at newspapers in Kansas, Colorado, Texas, and Missouri. For ten years I was the travel editor at The Kansas City Star. My stories have been published in dozens of newspapers across the country.
I have a graduate teaching certificate in secondary education from Avila University in Kansas City and am licensed to teach English in Kansas and Missouri. I also have a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas. My wife, Jill, and I have two adults sons, Andrew and Zachary, a beautiful baby granddaughter named Lucy, and a very energetic dog named Spenser.
